By virtue of her membership in Saint Peters Episcopal
Church, every woman is a member of Episcopal Church Women
(ECW).
ECW meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each
month, September through November. Meeting place is the
Woolard Meeting Room in Gardner Hall. The December meeting
is traditionally Evensong, followed by a light meal.
Dates for the January through May meetings will be announced.
ECW provides opportunities for fellowship and meaningful
Christian activity. A committee of ECW members is currently
at work on a new edition of Keys to the Kitchen, Saint Peters
very popular (and now out of print) cookbook. All members
of Saint Peters are invited to submit recipes for consideration.
ECW members also participate on committees to prepare and
serve meals to bereaved families in the church.
Over the past few months, ECW has conducted several immensely
successful projects.
- Host for the 118th Annual ECW Meeting on May 2
- UTO Ingathering in May (more than $1500 contributed)
- Jamboree Prom on May 6
- Collection of bags of groceries for the Newton Grove
Hispanic Ministry
- Carolina Harvest Festival and Low Country Boil in October,
2005
- Washington Womens Bible Study Luncheon in February,
2006
Some of ECWs outreach activities include support
of Saint Marys, Thompsons Home, Camp Trinity
scholarships, Options, and Zion Soup Kitchen.
ECW is currently selling Food Lion cards to finance its
outreach ministries. These Food Lion cards will be on sale
again, beginning in August, each Sunday before Sunday School.
Beautiful note cards from art work done by Saint Peters
artists are also available for purchase at meetings.
Officers for 2006-2007 are Betty Cochran, president; Lalla
Sidbury, vice-president; Barbara Walker, secretary; Fran
Sobol, treasurer Mary Dennis, UTO chair; Cathy Whichard,
