My husband, David, and I have been members of Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church for the past 31 years. Our children, Christopher and Erin, were raised at Saint Peter’s. For the past 11 years, I have used my organizational skills as an administrator at Beaufort County Community College.
Through the years at Saint Peter’s, I have taught Sunday School; worked in Vacation Bible School; helped with Christmas pageants in various capacities; helped lead, prepare programs and food for the EYC; been a participating member of the ECW; served on Angel Ministries; helped prepare food for funerals; participated in Foyer groups; served on the Parrish Profile Committee; and have been a core member of the Mother’s Grief Support Group.
Saint Peter’s has meant a lot to me and to my family. I truly love the people at Saint Peter’s and find comfort in their midst. David has served on the Vestry and encouraged me to be a candidate. It would be both an honor and a pleasure to serve on the Vestry of Saint Peter’s. Thank you.

I visited Saint Peter’s in 1999 while returning to Beaufort County after a fourteen year absence. I became a member in 2000 and both my children, Simon and Abigail, were baptized here and attended our fantastic Day School.
I attended both North Carolina State University and East Carolina University earning a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Arts in English Women’s History. As a full time history instructor at Wake Technical Community College I helped develop the distance education program – the same program that would allow my husband, Scott, and I to move to Washington and maintain my career. I live in the best of worlds – I teach college classes via the internet and stay at home with my children. I continue to teach but now that both children are in school I am currently transitioning to a family business, the Carowan-Allen Insurance Agency.
I have served St. Peter’s in many different areas. I have lay read for five years, taught Sunday school, delivered Children’s Moment, helped develop the Young Adult’s Sunday school class, developed the F.I.S.H. group, worked at Bible School for four years, helped organize the St. Peter’s Day School auction and provided cooking services on many occasions. I will faithfully continue to serve Saint Peter’s in any calling. I look forward to many years together on our spiritual journey.
